A team from Kigezi region Ndorwa west constituency in Kabaale district last evening visited Tooro-sub- region in Kyenjojo district to acquire knowledge and adopt tips on growing new high value crops in order to eradicate poverty.

Hon David Muhumuza national chairperson for hash avocados farmers association and Major General Robert rusoke Uganda ambassador to Rwanda ushered a team of 14 people fully facilitated by Hon. David Bahati state minister for trade, industry and cooperatives at Njojo agro based industries limited in Nyaruzigati-kyembogo sub-county Kyenjojo district.

During the workshop 14 farmers from 8 sub-counties of Ndorwa West County in Kabaale district and other 6 people from Kyegegwa, and Masindi districts were instructed on how to manage hash avocados from nursery bed up to the period of harvesting.

One day training, farmers visited Njojo farm in Kembogo sub-county Kyenjojo district and Humuza agro processors farm located in Kyaterekera town council Kagadi district.

Hon Muhumuza David who also doubles as mp Mwenge North constituency has challenged farmers to plant hass avocados assuring not get worried of the market and he promised to collaborate with government to increase on distribution of seedlings.

Mrs. Angel Rusoke the director Njojo agro based industries thanked the government for through NAADs which has reduced the cost of seedlings despite challenges of root rot and water stress more especially in dry season.

Mrs. Rusoke says, they purposely established Njojo farm with a vision to a center for social and economic transformation through creation of jobs to both skilled and unskilled labor, and providing training service to out-growers.

Participants headed by Mr. Wilber Kanyesigye political assistant to Hon David Bahati shortly after the workshop they explained that knowledge acquired will help them to effectively use financial resources, start and maintain their own gardens and subsequently household revenues.

They have thanked lawmakers for the partnership aiming to fight poverty.
