COVID-19 restrictions still stand – Kirunda
Jan 24, 2022

NEWS – The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda has clarified that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni directives on COVID-19 as of December 31st 2021 still stand.
According to social media tweet shared by Kirunda, the public is urged to continue observing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) as the economy resumes to full operations.

Kirunda said that any revision in the Presidential directives on COVID-19 will be be formally communicated and therefore the general public should not bother to relax on the guidelines.

While addressing the nation on December 31st 2021, President Museveni said that the government would open the economy two weeks after the reopening of schools.

The two weeks have since elapsed and the general public was today gearing up to throw mega parties by opening bars since today marks the end of the two weeks.

However Faruk Kirunda said that no one is allowed to bend the presidential directives until a communication is made to the effect.

This comes moments after local media reported that President Museveni had officially opened up the economy when he announced that said that what he directed on December 31st stands and no need to change it.
