Breaking: Anita Among Scoops Speakership Race After Roasting Asuman Basalirwa

Ugandan members of parliament has on Friday elected the new speaker and deputy speaker of parliament for a five-year term of office.

The ruling party’s candidate Anita Among has been elected Speaker of the 11th Parliament.

Anita Among has won with 401 votes, winning Asuman Basalirwa who managed to get 66 votes.

The National Resistance Movement  (NRM) flag bearer will take over from the late Jacob Oulanya who died while in the US where he had gone to receive receive treatment 

Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo, who presided over the election of the speaker of the 11th parliament, is going to declare the winner.
