Death toll hits 26 in double accidents registered in a single day
NEWS – A total of 26 people have today died in two different road accidents.
According to Faridah Nampiima the traffic Police department Spokesperson, at around 10:30 am, 20 people perished in a fatal accident that involved a link bus registration number UBA 003S that was heading to Kampala from Fort Portal.

Nampiima says that out of 20 deaths confirmed in Kampala –Fort Portal nasty accident, at around 2Km from Fort Portal City at a place called Sebitoli, thirteen are adults while 7 are juveniles. Out of the twenty, 11 are male and nine are female whose particulars will be availed in due course according to Police.

23 die during Idd, Labour Day celebrations
Police have said they registered 119 accidents during Labour Day and Idd celebrations across the country. Of the 111 people involved in the accidents, 23 died on the spot while 88 sustained injuries.

Addressing the media at police headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, Ms Farida Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson, yesterday attributed the accidents to recklessness and failure to observe traffic road signs.

One killed as armed thugs raid two fuel stations


The police have revealed that two aggravated robberies by criminal gangs targeting fuel stations occurred last week.

One person was killed, several injured while items worth millions were stolen.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said the robbers either disguise as clients branching out to refuel their vehicles, then round up the private security guards and other staff on the night shift, before robbing them; or carry out direct attacks on workers at these fuel stations deep in the night, especially between 1-4 am, while armed with weapons.

“For instance, on April 28, 2022, at around 1 am, Total Fuel Station, Semuto Branch, in Nakaseke District, was raided by 5 suspects armed with guns and iron bars,” said Enanga.
