Serere by-elections: NRM promises late Okabe’s son a job
Top wigs of the ruling NRM, who have pitched camp in Teso to campaign for their party candidate ahead of next week’s Serere County by-elections, have said they will offer the late Patrick Okabe’s son a job should he lose the election.
This came after NRM fronted Mr Phillip Oucor as their preferred choice.
Okabe’s son, Mr Emmanuel Omoding, is running as an independent candidate but NRM-leaning.
Hospital staff, patients raise money for drugs
The humanitarian initiative comes after National Medical Stores (NMS) failed to deliver medical supplies to the hospital last Friday as promised.
The facility handles patients from as far as the districts of Buvuma, Mukono, Kayunga and Jinja due to its strategic location on Jinja- Kampala highway. However, it last received drugs in November 2022, according to the district health officer, Dr Richard Bbosa. He said the hospital has, in the last couple of months, been “surviving on God’s mercy”.
The confirmation comes a week after Dr Wamasebu went missing from his home in Namabasa Sub county in Mbale City. His body was found buried in a shallow grave near River Kakamega in Kabras Village, Kakamega County, Kenya on Monday.
Kenyan police in presence of Dr Wamasebu family members retrieved the body and proceeded to conduct extensive tests, which have verified his death.
Ms Pauline Tsekooko Wamasebu, a sister to the deceased told this publication on Friday that the family has travelled to Kakamega to pick the body for burial.
“The DNA test has confirmed his death and some of our relatives have already travelled to bring the body to Uganda for burial,” Ms Tsekooko said.
