REVEALED: Here Are Mutebile’s Last Words To BoU Staff

Star source television News Updates
Jan 30, 2022
Bank of Uganda (BoU) deputy governor Michael Atingi-Ego has revealed the last words fallen governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile asked him to share with staff at the central bank before he died.

Mutebile died in Nairobi at the weekend.

His burial will cost millions.

Speaking at a funeral service held at Mutebile’s Kabale home, Atingi-Ego said that Mutebile had sought assurances from him, four times, on the delivery of his message to staff.

And, as it has now emerged, the governor’s last words to staff were communicated by his deputy as a New Year’s Message.

On his hospital bed, Mutebile had told Atingi-Ego that he was “in pain” and “suffering.”

He further quoted the fallen governor as telling him: “When you go back, tell my staff that I am going away for medical review but I will be back and come to office. Most importantly, extend my New Year wishes to the staff; wish them a bright, prosperous and a happy 2022.”

That in order to be certain that his message would reach, Mutebile asked Atingi-Ego: “Have you heard?’ I said yes Governor, I have heard, are you going to do it?”

And the conversation would soon come to an end, thus:

Atingi-Ego: Yes governor, I am going to do it.
Mutebile : Are you sure?
Atingi-Ego : Yes, governor I am going to do it.
Mutebile : Don’t forget.
It was the emphasis and seriousness with which Mutebile had put on the need for his message to deliver his message to staff that kept Atingi-Ego wondering.

And it became the last message from the country’s longest serving BoU Governor to his staff.

Catherine Kusasira cries out for Museveni bail out- I’m indebted because of NRM work

Kusasira and President Museveni
Songstress Catherine Kusasira has pleaded for financial rescue from President Museveni for the commitment and services she has rendered to the party leading up to the January 2021 presidential elections.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Kusasira says she sacrificed much of her money to fund youth projects in a bid to woo the youth to denounce National Unity Platform (NUP) under Robert Kyagulanyi and join NRM.

The ‘Sonyiwa bano’ adds she took loans to fund some of the projects with hopes she would be paid in turn only to be forgotten.

“I really sacrificed a lot during the last campaigns where I even went for bank loans and started projects as a way of motivating the youths as a tactic of fighting the pressure group that had arose(NUP),” Kusasira said.

The singer turned presidential advisor regrets working for the ruling party. She says working for the party has only left her sinking in debts, cost her friends and music career.

The singer wonders why the party she ‘carried on her back’ cannot come to her rescue at this critical time.

“Why NRM?!. I have lost a lot because of you; business, friends and fans because of choosing you as my party. I have lost everything because of my party NRM, there is alot of unfairness in NRM as a party. You work hard and be committed to everything in the party for the betterment but never to be appreciated,” Kusasira stressed.

Kusasira says her life is currently upended after losing everything she had before joining NRM and accuses the party of forgetting her and other party members that have ‘sacrificed’ a lot for the party.

“I have never been rewarded and appreciated for the strength and commitment I showed during that time..but instead lost everything I had before. Lwaki (why) NRM you such a disgrace to me and to us who sacrificed everything because of you?” she wondered.

Kusasira warned the president that some of the people he trusts might lead to his downfall unless he changes course.

REVEALED: How Kagame, Muhoozi Kainerugaba Sealed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho’s Fate in Kigali Meeting

REVEALED: How Kagame, Muhoozi Kainerugaba Sealed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho’s Fate in Kigali Meeting

President Paul Kagame, fired CMI commander Maj Gen Abel Kandiho and Museveni's son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba

Fresh details are emerging on the sacking of Maj Gen Abel Kandiho, the hitherto Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).

On January 25, it emerged that Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, the commander-in-chief of armed forces, had fired Maj Gen Kandiho as CMI commander.

Museveni appointed Maj Gen James Birungi.

Maj Gen Kandiho will now go to South Sudan to monitor the assembling, screening, demobilization, and integration of the armed forces on behalf of the guarantors.

It is this job that Maj Gen Birungi has been doing.

Birungi had previously served as the commandant of SFC.

Maj Gen Kandiho’s demotion comes a few months after the US slapped sanctions against him.

It also comes a few days since President Paul Kagame of Rwanda met President Museveni’s son, also UPDF Land Forces Commander, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met in Kigali, Rwanda, at the weekend.

After the meeting, Lt Gen Kainerugaba and Kagame delivered good news to Rwandans and Ugandans on the restoration of relations between the two countries.

For years now, the relations between Kampala and Kigali have remained cold.

Rwanda has accused Uganda of, among other things, of using CMI, including under Kandiho, of kidnapping and torturing Rwandans in Uganda.

In one report, a Rwandan woman accused CMI of detaining her in a toilet for two weeks.

Since the closure of Katuna/Gatuna border in 2019, Kagame and Rwandan negotiators have insisted on the firing of CMI boss Kandiho.

The issue of his sacking is said to have been discussed in Kainerugaba-Kagame meeting at the weekend.

There are also reports that Kagame made the sacking of Kandiho one of the conditions for the restoration of relations between Kigali and Kampala.

According to former ISO chief of political intelligence, Kagame had to ensure that Kandiho is out.

“Of course Mr Paul Kagame having been in CMI and knowing how critical CMI was in organizing against President Habyarimana, Abel Kandiho had to leave,” wrote Rwomushana.

With Kandiho out now, it remains to be seen on whom Museveni’s axe will swing next, in relation to the Kigali-Kampala crisis.

Meanwhile, Museveni appointed a new deputy IGP.

Museveni has also fired CID director Grace Akullo.

Also fired is State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) head Col Edith Nakalema.

Crashed World War II aircraft found in India after 77 years

 STAR SOURCE TV NEW UPDATES

21, Jan, 2022

A missing World War II plane has been identified in India's remote Himalayas nearly 80 years after it crashed with no survivors, following a treacherous search that led to the deaths of three guides.

The C-46 transport aircraft was carrying 13 people from Kunming in southern China when it disappeared in stormy weather over a mountainous stretch of Arunachal Pradesh state in the first week of 1945.

"This aircraft was never heard from again. It simply disappeared," said Clayton Kuhles, a US adventurer who led the mission after a request from the son of one of those on board the doomed flight.

The expedition took months and saw Kuhles and a team of guides from the local Lisu ethnic group ford chest-deep rivers and camp in freezing temperatures at high altitudes.

Three guides died of hypothermia at an initial stage of the project while camped out during a September snowstorm.

But the team finally stumbled upon the plane on a snow-clad mountain top last month, where they were able to identify the wreckage by the tail number.

There were no human remains in what was left of the craft.

Kuhles was tasked with conducting the search by Bill Scherer, whose officer father was aboard the plane when it crashed.

"All I can say is that I am overjoyed, just knowing where he is. It is sad but joyous," Scherer told AFP by email from New York.

"I grew up without a father. All I can think of is my poor Mother, getting a telegram and finding out her husband is missing and she is left with me, a 13-month-old baby boy."

Hundreds of US military planes went missing around the theatre of operations in India, China and Myanmar during World War II.

While hostile fire from Japanese forces did account for some aircraft losses, Kuhles said the majority are believed to have been brought down by ice damage, hurricane-force winds and other severe weather conditions.

COVID-19: 45,298 students show symptoms, 1,251 isolated

 STAR SOURCE TV NEWS UPDATES

21 Jan, 2022, Friday

The Ministry of Education and Sports on Wednesday released the COVID-19 school surveillance report indicating that 45,298 students had shown symptoms while 1,251 learners had been isolated in schools.

775 schools reported suspected cases to the ministries of education and health that promptly sent teams that screened 470,910 individuals. The report was released nine days after schools across the country opened following almost two years of no physical classes due to the closure of education institutions in June 2020.

The government said the closure was one of the interventions to curb the spread of COVID-19 following the resurgence of the Delta variant.

On January 6, 2022, the Ministry of Health in a letter to the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education halted the requirement for learners to undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing before accessing school premises.

At around the same time, there was a surge in COVID-19 cases registered in the country, prompting school owners to ask parents to ensure that learners appear with negative PCR test results taken at least 72 hours before the reporting day.

Other managers informed parents that the test would be carried out by pre-positioned private laboratories upon arrival, prompting a public outcry.

The demands prompted the director-general of health services Dr Henry Mwebesa to write to the education ministry calling for directives asking schools to halt the requirement of tests, saying this was not part of the national school reopening requirements put in place by the national COVID-19 task force.

“The national COVID-19 task force guidelines for reopening of schools, jointly developed by the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Health, provides specific guidance on how learners will safely return to schools. Testing learners on arrival was not one of the recommendations,” Mwebesa noted.

Mwebesa noted that schools were required to put in place a system for strict compliance to COVID-19 standard operating procedures and strengthening surveillance systems.

Ismael Mulindwa, the director of basic education, said any school that will insist on forcing tests on students would be penalised.
